Search & SelectionWe only advise a search process in the following situations:
- Where the blend of senior executive skills and experience is available in relatively few individuals in well-defined areas of a market sector.
- When recruitment advertising is likely to be, or has been, costly and unsuccessful.
- Rare and specific technical or specialist skills and expertise, even though the position may be relatively junior and command total earnings of £40,000pa, are available in relatively few individuals as above.
Our procedures normally start with the careful definition of the vacant position with client Chief Executive, senior management and human resources function covering the following areas:-
- Company/Client background
- Reasons for the appointment
- Job Description and Reporting structure
- Key objectives of the position
- Person Specification including skills and experience required.
- Employment Package and Benefits
- Special factors
Drafting the Job Definition for Candidates for client amendment and approval will include a list of between 15-20 key automotive skills, experience and personality/culture fit criteria, which we use as the benchmark to judge each candidate.
We define a search strategy in agreement with the client.
Once the search process has begun we always review the results with our clients at an interim stage to ensure activities are producing the required results.
Short list interviews are agreed at a final stage at which time we normally brief the client on specific candidate concerns. We also provide detailed candidate feedback within 24 hours following each interview so that the client knows exactly what the candidate is thinking. This can make the difference between success and failure and is a unique Steele-Dixon benefit to our clients. We also assist in the final end-game process when the successful candidate and client are seeking to reach a positive conclusion.
If required we undertake reference checking, personality profiling and/or aptitude testing.
